Using BIM objects and libraries

Course plan:

  • BIM libraries. What are they and why we need them?
  • Common BIM libraries and their content.
  • Most used BIM libraries in the Nordics and in Estonia.
  • Most used BIM libraries content, their add-ins and other tools.
  • BIM objects and 2D CAD blocks on different softwares. Overview of Autocad, Revit and Archicad libraries, BIM objects and content.
  • Necessity of BIM objects content. What must be there?
  • What to look? How to add or modify?
  • Estonian Government Real Estate parameters and shared parameters in Revit BIM objects.
  • Exporting the information of BIM objects to IFC format.
  • BIM libraries of Estonian manufacturers and the use of their content.
  • Introduction and overview of the Estonian localization in the ProdLib BIM libraries.

The course takes place in one day, lasting 6 hours.

Course outcome:

  • Distinguish between the different BIM libraries and find necessary information inside them.
  • Understands the value of BIM objects and BIM libraries.
  • Understands the content of BIM objects, knows how to edit and add information.
  • Understands, how to add different parameters to BIM objects (for example Estonian Government Real Estate BIM parameters).
  • Can export the necessary information to IFC format (for example Estonian Government Real Estate BIM parameters).

The course is repetitive.
